Ad hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action. A temporary subsidiary body established at COP17 in Durban in 2011. Its dual mission is 1) to draw up a new global climate agreement ("a protocol, another legal instrument or an agreed outcome with legal force under the Convention applicable to all Parties") to be adopted at COP21 in Paris in 2015 and to enter into force in 2020, and 2) to identify ways to achieve more ambitious global emission reductions in the period up to 2020 in order to close the growing gap between current emission pledges and what needs to be done to hold global warming below 2°C. The two workstreams within the ADP (WS1 and WS2) are divided accordingly.
