National communication (NC)

A document where a country informs other countries of activities undertaken to address climate change. It includes implemented and planned climate actions, as well as a national inventory of anthropogenic emissions by sources, and removals by sinks, of all greenhouse gases (GHGs), and is obligatory to submit by all Parties to the Convention. The required contents of national communications (NCs) and the timetable for submissions are different for Annex I and non-Annex I Parties. This, in accordance with the CBDR principle (see CBDR). Developing countries are obligated to submit NCs less often than developed countries; every four years instead of every two years. (see also IDR)
