Special Climate Change Fund. A special fund established in 2001 to finance projects relating mainly to adaptation, but also to technology transfers and related capacity building activities in all developing country Parties to the UNFCCC. The Fund should complement other funding mechanisms for the implementation of the Convention. The Global Environment Facility (GEF) operates the Fund, which catalyzes finance from bilateral and multilateral sources. (see also Adaptation Fund, GCF and LDCF)
