Technology transfer

A broad set of processes covering flows of know-how, experience and equipment for mitigation and adaptation to climate change among different stakeholders. According to Article 4.5 of the UNFCCC, developed countries and other developed countries included in Annex II Parties are commited do everything in their power to promote, facilitate and finance the transfer of (or access to) environmentally sound technologies and know-how to other countries. Particularly to developing countries in order to enable them to implement the obligations of the Convention. This commitment is also echoed in the Kyoto Protocol (Article 10 c). In 2010, the Technology Mechanism was established to support countries in developing and transfering climate technologies so that they can effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to the adverse effects of climate change.
